덕 Deogyu-san National Park is a long narrow spine that represents part of the Baekdu Daegan (spine of Korea) mountain system. This overnight hike is probably one of the best hikes you can do in Korea. It explores the spine starting at the southern end of it. We climb along a rising ridge with spectacular drop-offs and tricky sections that give us clear views of this parks twin horn peaks, Seo-bong 1492m and Namdeogyu-san 1507m. Once arriving at these peaks we then have long views of the bony spine of the Deogyu-san as it wrangles northwards to its highest peak Hyangjeok-bong 1610m. The first night will be spent in the heated Satgat-jae shelter which has great easterly views our over Korea’s panorama of mountains. On the second day we rise and continue on the spine enjoying remarkable views east and west as we make our way to Hyangjeok-bong. From there we will begin our descent down to the national park village of Samgong-ri with its many restaurants and accommodations. We can return to the vehicle via taxi and I will transport you to Jeonju KTX station or elsewhere as arranged.
